1 Mile Race
The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake community will be celebrating the red, white and blue at the 9th Annual BH-BL Community Flag Day Parade on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Previous years' events have brought these comments:
It was the most community-building event we've had in the ten years I've lived here.
That parade was the most emotional, incredible thing. What a beautiful evening!
I think our community has really needed something like this.
The Route 50 Mile
This year we will be the 2nd Annual "ROUTE 50 MILE." This one mile road race will be run 5 minutes before the parade directly down the parade route. This event is presented by: Community Human Services and the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Business and Professional Association. For more information, please contact CHS at (518) 399-4624.Parade History
The event is the brainchild of BH-BL teacher and coach Gary Bynon, who approached the Business and Professional Association in 2002 with the goal of giving local children a chance to enjoy watching or being part of a parade. "I loved parades as a a kid and I wished our kids had more chances to enjoy them too," says Bynon. "It gives people a chance to celebrate our community and express our love for the flag and all that it stands for."
